Universe or Multiverse

How many of you have seen the Jet Li movie The One. Well for those who have not a small background. This movie talks about there being multiverse rather than a universe and he goes about killing all his counterparts in all the universes thus making himself stronger, faster and smarter.
So this raised a question in my mind. Is it Universe or Multiverse?
For the sake of clarity let us for the time being call the Universe as World. Just a change in terminology.
If there are multiple worlds in the same dimension then what use would it be to call each as a seperate world (read universe)? If yes, how do we distinguish the different Worlds? In my opinion the whole lot of worlds should be called as a single world. Thus bringing us to a different point of view. For a multiverse to exist there has to be another dimension to the universe. Hopefully, the conclusion is satisfactory. Now if there is another dimension then are there our counterparts in that world or does that have no bearing on us. One more question that this conclusion raises is that can we travel to the other dimensions and if so how? Also how many such dimensions exists?
Amazing what we can do with our mind and more amazing is this universe or is it multiverse.
Cause of these strange thoughts is the movie and also the Douglas Adams book Hithicker's Guide to the Galaxy. I hope none of you are looking to hurt me after reading this.

I heard somewhere:
"(Einsted proved) No particle in this universe can travel with the velocity of light. Similarly there is another universe, where no particle travels less that the speed of light". Anthro, is this the parallel universe you are talking about?

There was a very brilliant graphic novel called 'The Adventures of Luther Arkwright' which is set across a number of multiverse realities.

Also the film Primer, which is basically a very clever time-travel movie suggests that once you change the past you erase the previous version rather than creating an alternate reality - or universe.

Don't think Douglas really got it when he wrote the guide...

Interesting blog.
