A tribute to Kumble

Kumble in my opinion is the finest cricketeer India has ever produced. I say say that for the following reasons
1. A person who started off as a medium pacer took up spin when one of his rising deliveries injured a player and he took up spin so that he would not injure another player with his bowling.
2. A Engineering graduate (and he passed with distinction too) along with his cricket
3. He is also a person actively involved in promoting the sport with his video game which he developed along with his brother Dinesh.
4. A never say die attitude. He has always come back with a bang when people were saying that he is through. The number of times he was dropped and the number of comebacks he has had are countless.
5. Even though he is not a great spinner of the cricket ball he has still managed to emerge as one of the greatest spinners of our time.
6. He is always willing to learn. Even at the age of 35 he is learning new deliveries and he is bowling at his best.
7. He was one of the architects who was responsible to get the contract system in place for the players with the BCCI.
8. One of the few who can do the calculations of the Duckworth-Lewis (Hope I have got the name correct) method to identify the revised target in the eventuality of rain in a match.
9. A person who in his 15 year long career has never been involved in any controversy.
10. The only bowler to have played a major role in most of the test victories of India after early 1990s.
11. The only other bowlere to have taken the perfect ten in an innings.
12. A very humble person inspite of his achievements and is always approachable.
13. A person who has never had the full backing of the BCCI or of a captain but still delivered when needed.
14. A person whom none can point accusingly for anything.

I can keep going on but I think I have made my point. The bottom line is he is the greatest sporting jewel India has ever got. I hope and pray that he not only goes on to play and architect more victories for India on the cricketting field but also that he has a wonderful, happy and peaceful life. One person who is defintely a candidate to be taken as an idol person.
Long Live Kumble, Hip Hip Hurray.
