Predictability

The other day I had gone to meet my dear friend after many months and we spoke for quite some time. Among the other things we had a conversation on he was talking about people not wanting to be predictable. They always want to be a mystery and do not want the others to know of their emotions and when they are predicted then they are extremely upset and try to negate the possibility that the other person is right. They never want others to know what is up with them. My friend strongly felt that this was not unneccesary and non-verbal communication is very important and for that ones needs to be predictable.
Well, I agree with him partly, but the predictablility should be only with the near and dear ones and very close friends but not with all. Being unpredictable is akin to being strong mentally as the person is trying to remain balanced in the face of both joy and sorrow. Is it not?

Absolutely not. Being predictable or unpredictable is very much different from being mentally strong. Someone can be mentally strong at times and not so strong at other times. To me it is not possible to predict when he/she will be mentally strong. Does this unpredictability make them mentally strong?
