The greatest cricketer that India ever produced, Anil Kumble retired from ODI cricket and with this an era of Indian cricket comes to an end. He was not only a great cricketer but also a superb human being. If you ever need a role model then you wont get a better person than him.
Unfortunately he was never considered to be a great cricketer inspite of his great records and was always criticized that he was never spinner but he always reinvented and learnt new things. For eg., he was never considered a strike bowler overseas and now over the past 5-6 years he has made a strong statement silently by improving on his record. Murali Karthik put it rightly. Anil is the Giant Redwood Tree of Indian Cricket. I think no one will debate on that. He would have made a great captain but the management never believed in his abilities for reasons unknown or probably they thought that since he was calm, modest and silent he was not aggressive (inspite of his intense cricket on the field, strange). He is revered by everyone. He truly fits to the word "Great".
Fortunately, I, rather we, can see him play test cricket for a few more years and see break some more records.
I just hope for one thing, ie., his personality rubs on to the other cricketers of the country.
