These songs are from the movie Morning Raga . The songs are awesome carnatic songs (south indian classical music genre) and here the fusion is created with western percussion and the omnipotent keyboard. The songs are sung by great carnatic living legends Sudha Ranganathan, Bombay Jayshree and Kalyani Menon. The first song shows the beautiful south indian country side and this is a really a dream for me. I hope I can have a house and fields like that. The music for this composed by Mani Sharma.
This genre of world music is also sometimes categorized as World Music. Listen to the complete song before you pass a judgement. I am sure you will like the song Tayee Yashoda (second video).

Music - Thebest thing that could happen to mankind
Music is truly a remarkable medium to emote, realize, & motivate and is capable of much more.
Music can motivate us, make us feel better when we are down, relax, freak out, be religious, be sacriligeous, turn us into a rebel or even revolutionary. In the pre-Independence era, music was used rampantly to inculcate and grow the feeling to break free from the British colonialism.
People say it is part of culture but music is culture rather beyond culture. It started with the rhyming verses uttered to overcome the monotony in the seeding and harvesting season and then later into the other fields of work for the same reason. Later it became a means to express extreme pathos and happiness, later some people took more interest in it and brought some structure to it so that it can be learned in a more organized way. Many streams of music came into being. Today we have so may genres and new ones are coming into being which are nothing but combination of the existing genres.
There is no one I know who does not like music. The variety is so huge that it caters to everyones taste. I would very much like if people contribute some links where in I can read about the geneology of music.
