Exit Drama

I was watching "Scrubs" on TV (a comedy series about a few doctors in a hospital) and there were a few episodes in which a long serving doctor decides to move to another hospital. This doctor wanted for people to feel his would be absence and unfortunately except for a couple of them everyone else cared a damn about him leaving. And this got me thinking.
How will people feel if and when I left my organization? Would they be happy about it, numb to it or would they be saddened by it?
I would happy if they feel bad about my absence but it would be very disturbing if they are happy about it. When we have made a difference in work for the good, been helpful, curbed our ego, humble, hardworking, sincere and maintain our integrity they will feel our absence. However if we are rude, slack off, argumentative etc., they would definitely have the a sense of ecstacy over my departure.
The same can be attributed to people when they die. There is a saying in Thamizh when we die there should atleast 4 people to shed tears. The number 4 is misleading. Basically it means that there should be few people to feel our absence. It shows that we made a difference in their lives for the good and they felt that a good soul has passed on.
I hope that I have made a difference both in work and in life for the good and there are a few souls who will feel bad about my absence and miss me. Even if this does not happen, I sure do hope that I am not one of those who are secretly despise me. Even if there is one soul who have this feeling towards me then I have failed in my life no matter how successful I am in materialistic terms and there would be no meaning to my life. I sure do hope that this does not apply to me.

Anger

Anger is often described as something that is really destructive not only to character but also to relationships and sometimes even to economics and legal status. But this is because anger has always been portrayed in the negative sense.
Anger is not always bad. It is bad only in the way it is being channeled. When we turn the anger in us to a positive flow we can enjoy huge success. Usually the reason for anger is betrayal, defeat, abuse, insult, embarrassment or the inability to change a certain situation to our liking. But if we can channel the anger to fight out the odds in life we can achieve a great deal. Rather than resorting to revenge, tit for tat we can work towards changing the cause then we can change the situation/scenario to our liking more often than not.
For eg., a top actor was ridiculed, insulted and embarrassed during a movie night awards as he was a small time actor then. He left the auditorium without a word and he was very upset and angry. He vowed to himself that he would change the scenario where in he will be treated above the other stars and he worked for it. Eventually within a span of a decade reached to become a highest paid actor in India (ofcourse he is no more the highest paid actor).
Anger can give a person the drive to achieve something he possibly thought was out of his/her reach. The above is only an example. I am not here to advise but to merely emphasize on the fact at anger is not bad but it is the way we channel it is that makes it bad.
Do let me know what your thoughts are on this.

Decisions or Fate

I am back after a long break. I am sure none was waiting for my blog though my expectations are so. Anyway, I am back and this time it is not any social issue but philosophy. This one is a very short one.
I was talking to my colleague on the way back home and there was a huge argument between us as whether life is destined to be the way it is or whether we have any say in this.
When we make a decision is it that we are destined to take that decision or is it really us making the decision? Is everything decided for us when we were born or does life take twists and turns based on our decisions?
I am of the opinion that my life was already decided and I am just walking along the path we have chosen. But then again I get this doubt. If my life is decided long before why are there this feelings of hate, anger, betrayal, etc. in my life. This also contradicts the theory of rebirth, which is actually caused by our bad deeds in our current life.
So any takers to help me on this question?
Once again I thank you all for your patience. As usual feel free to comment.
