Heroes and heroines have kept us in awe for a long time and will do so in the future too. Most of us go the movies to live a fantasy life for 2-3 hours. We live our fantasy through the heroes or heroines on the screen. But there is a debate as to how a hero/heroine should be portrayed on the screen. Should they be portrayed larger than life (invincible so as to say the least) or should they be portrayed as a person coming from the commoners?
If the second option is to be followed many including me will feel that our fantasy will always remain a fantasy and probably our hopes will be shatered. Yes, I know the remark you are making. But believe it or not many of them do get their hopes and beliefs given a thrust and they come out of the movie hall fully charged.
But then again if the first option is to be followed, then it will be as if we are instilling false hopes and beliefs in people and sort of advising to take the wrong path to achieve success pobably even enticing people to commit crimes. Success here could mean both social reform and self upliftment.
The best solution is to strike a balance between the two options. Most of them agree on this but how do you do that such as what should be the correct mix? This is the question they ask when you talk of this.
This might not be one of the interesting blogs I have written but I was determined to write on something to break the monotony in my life. As usual feel free to comment

Hi Venugopal,
This is one of the interesting, worth-a-debate blogs you've posted. I was also thinking a lot about this. I believe, the first option should be followed. Right from an unbelievable fight to a class room comedy (in movies), we tend to enjoy only the ones, we wish to do but are unable to do. There is no point in showing a fight where the hero punches the villan on his face and kicks his stomach(that would be sufficient in a real life to make a person fall). I won't enjoy that fight. But when the same hero attacks a mob of 50 ppl, jumping, running and kicking, then it is a fight to me. After all I paid 80-90 Bucks to watch something which i couldn't watch/do in my real world.
But it shouldn't be "TOO MUCH" like the new tamil film "sullaan"
