Laws

Laws, they are a set of rules laid down by the elected representatives of the people to help people lead civilized, disciplined non-animal like life. These are there to prevent acts which cause pain to others. These acts are given a name 'crimes' by the people.
But there is one big question. Are these laws made for the betterment of the lives of the people or are they there to help capture the 'criminals'. In this world all the laws are made to catch the offenders of the law who are a minority rather than protect the others. Therefore, I feel that the laws are not just.
Why am I saying this? Take for instance travel by air, why do we have to go to the airport 3hrs in advance while the intention of flying is to reduce the time of travel. There are so many procedures (mainly related to security) before we are even allowed to board the flight. These procedures are in place only to catch the 1/2 terrorists while they know that most of us are innocent and have no such intentions.
But then again, do we know or are there any research going on to find ways to create laws for the betterment of the people without subjecting them to unnecessary procedures. We have always thought in one direction while making laws.
There must be a way out and I hope they find it soon. Looking forward to your comments.
